The crew of a flight headed to Kennedy Airport reported being targeted by a laser about 4 miles northwest of the airport early Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The incident occurred about 1 a.m.
The FAA said the plane, a Hawker Beechcraft 1900 operated by SkyLink Express, landed safely. No injuries were reported.
It was not immediately clear how many passengers and crew were aboard the low-wing, twin-engine turboprop when the incident occurred. The airliner generally seats 19 with a crew of three, including two pilots and an attendant, according to manufacturer specifications for commercial configurations.
The FAA said the flight, which originated in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, was at an altitude of about 1,500 feet when “a green laser illuminated” the cockpit.
The NYPD is investigating.
