Liz Taylor estate to be auctioned at Christie's

Christie's will hawk the late screen legend Elizabeth Taylor's fine art, movie memorabilia, couture fashion and blindingly beautiful jewels in a four-day auction beginning Dec. 13.

The auction house expects to realize more than $50 million from the sale. Breaking from tradition, tickets to view the stunning estate must be purchased. They're on sale for $30 (visit christies.com/elizabethtaylorview), and the viewings run from Saturday through Dec. 12.

The 2,000 items include the "Mike Todd Tiara" (which Taylor wore swimming in Italy), some of the finest jewelry in the world given to the screen gem by her two-time husband Richard Burton and scads of bling from admirers such as Andy Warhol, Malcolm Forbes and Michael Jackson.

About half of the items can be seen and purchased in online eBay-style auctions running from Saturday through Dec. 17 (christies.com/elizabethtaylor/onlineonly).

A portion of profits from the sale of select publications, exhibition admissions and event sponsorships will be directed to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF). All sales proceeds will be directed to Trust which manages the estate of Elizabeth Taylor. Taylor died at 79 of heart failure in March.
