Manhattan's Carnegie Deli has wasted no time in honoring the newest Knick with a signature sandwich. The deli started selling "the Melo" at $21.95 a pop Tuesday, before the ink on Carmelo Anthony's contract was dry.

Sandy Levine, the Carnegie's owner, designed the sandwich with the subtlety of a tenured symbologist:

Salami: "a little spicy because we want him to spice up the Knicks and the fans."

Bacon: "Because we want him to bring home the bacon."

Pastrami and corned beef: "Because those are our signature meats."

Rye bread: "Our signature bread."

Lettuce and tomato: "[They] go on every sandwich."

Russian dressing: Levine says it's a jab at Mikhail Prokhorov, the Russian billionaire who owns the Nets.
