Millionaire mom denied bail in case of her 8-year-old son's death

The multi-millionaire mother accused of killing her 8-year-old autistic son was denied $6 million bail Thursday, the second time a Manhattan judge shot down such a request.
Gigi Jordan, 50, is accused of giving her son, Jude Michael Mirra, a lethal dose of drugs on Feb. 5, 2010, in the posh Peninsula Hotel, before taking an overdose herself. Her attorneys have argued that the boy's death was a "mercy killing" meant to save him from sexual abuse by his father.
"Being dead is not as bad as having that continue for the rest of his life," Jordan reportedly said in a statement.
Ron Kuby, one of Jordan's attorneys, said it was "disappointing" that Justice Charles Solomon refused to allow her to be placed under house arrest with armed guards a la ex-IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
“The only similarity between this defendant and (DSK) … is that they both have the financial means to post significant bail and to pay for a private security team to monitor them," Solomon said.
"The judge simply refused to consider that bail proposal because it seems as though the judge has already decided that she's guilty," Kuby told amNewYork.
Jordan is due back in court on Sept. 16.
