NYC street vendor fatally crushed by pickup truck

A West African immigrant who worked as a street vendor in Harlem to support his family back home has been crushed to death after a pickup truck fell on top of him.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon in the Bronx.

Witnesses said 49-year-old Abdul Barry was moving a Toyota pickup truck from the rear to the front of a rented shipping container when a chain supporting the truck snapped and the truck landed on him.

Barry was trying to ship the pickup to his family in Guinea.

Emergency responders were on scene within minutes but Barry was already dead.

Barry had a wife and two young daughters in Guinea.

Friends said he worked seven days a week to support them.
