Perfect wines to pair with your holiday dinner
You’ve finalized your holiday meal menu and invite list, now what about the wine? New York-based Master sommelier Fred Dexheimer, founder of wine and beverage consulting company Juiceman Consulting, offers these tips for holiday hosting.
With turkey, Dexheimer prefers fuller bodied whites. He likes Rhone whites like Roussanne and Marsanne blends from the St. Joseph or Hermitage regions of France. A Chateauneuf Blanc is also delish, he said.
“Since ham is a pink meat, I would recommend a pink wine,” said Dexheimer. In general, he likes any full bodied or sparkling rose. If you’re splurging, try “a rocking wine like the Rene Geoffroy Rose de Saignee Brut,” a sparkling rose. On a budget? Avinyo Cava Rose is a great pick.
