The MTA is going to make some No. 7 train stations less hospitable to pigeons that treat elevated tracks like a coop to poop on pedestrians standing below.

Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, who represents Sunnyside and Woodside, allocated $250,000 for the installation of low-voltage wires, netting and an ultrasonic device that sounds like a hawk to scare away pigeons.

"It sounds funny, but it's a pretty serious

quality-of-life issue," said Van Bramer, who said he's been a victim of pigeon defecation. "It's disgusting. It really makes a neighborhood look unclean and uninviting."

The MTA started installing the deterrence system last week and will finish in three months at No. 7 stations at 46th, 52nd and 61st streets, Van Bramer said.
