Police: NYC dad forced son, 9, into unlit oven
NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a father is facing charges of assault and endangering the welfare of a child because he forced his 9-year-old son into an unlit oven as a punishment.
Prosecutors say the Staten Island man got angry at the boy on Wednesday night for going into his wallet. Police said he hit the child with a spatula and burned his hands by holding them over the stove. The child was then forced into the oven.
The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
