Reese Witherspoon: 'I clearly had one drink too many'
Reese Witherspoon said Sunday she's "deeply embarrassed" about her her disorderly conduct arrest Friday, when she allegedly yelled at cops when they were busting her husband during a DUI traffic stop in Atlanta.
"I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said," Witherspoon said. "It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."
During the stop, Witherspoon, 37, allegedly asked a state trooper, "Do you know my name?" and then added, "You're about to be on national news," according to the arrest report. She was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct for not staying in her car when cops gave her husband a field sobriety test.
A first court hearing set for Monday was rescheduled for May 22. Her husband faces a DUI charge, and is due back in court May 23.
