Ryan Gosling saved me from being hit by a cab, says British writer

Ryan Gosling may have saved the day in the Big Apple yet again.

The 31-year-old actor played the part of a real-life hero Tuesday night, according to British writer Laurie Penny, who said he saved her from getting hit by a taxi on Sixth Avenue.

Around 6:30 p.m., Penny tweeted:

I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. Literally. That actually just happened.

She added: "I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi."

"He said, 'Hey, watch out!'" added Penny, who writes for U.K. publications such as The Guardian and New Statesman.

A spokesman for Gosling didn't return amNewYork's requests for confirmation Wednesday, but Penny claimed that another female pedestrian witnessed Gosling's heroic feat and jealously told her: "You lucky b----."

Penny, meanwhile, tweeted Wednesday that the entire incident had become overhyped: "I don't mean to be a d------- about this, but I really think it's a bit of a fuss over not very much. It did make me laugh, but life goes on."

This isn't Gosling's first brush with street heroics: Last August, Gosling helped break up a fight between two men in the East Village, an incident that found its way to YouTube.

In the video, the Oscar nominee - wearing a striped tank top, rolled-up cargo pants and a bright-blue baseball cap - can be seen calmly stepping between the two fighters to separate them.

But when he isn't saving lives, Gosling has been spotted around town acting like a regular old New Yorker, often walking the streets with his dog, George.

"I've had \[George\] for 11 years - it's the longest relationship I've ever had," Gosling, who reportedly has been dating Eva Mendes, told amNewYork last summer when he was living in the East Village.
