A Staten Island man accused of shooting an off-duty cop during a possible dispute over a woman, turned himself into the authorities Saturday night.

New Jersey prosecutors held Robert Dunbar, 35, on $500,000 bail on attempted murder and assault charges for the fight with the unidentified officerin the home of Dunbar's estranged wife Friday night.

The authorities say the two men were involved in a "domestic dispute" and would not comment on whether it involved Dunbar's ex.

According to the Asbury Park Press, Dunbar and the officer, who works at the 63rd Precinct in Brooklyn, got into a fight over the officer's gun and it went off.

The cop was treated and released from a nearby hospital and Dunbar is expected to be arraigned Monday.
