This guy outsourced his job to China while he watched cat videos all day

Earning six figures while watching cat videos at work sounds like a dream come true -- but one software developer made it his reality.

A U.S. developer known only as "Bob" was busted for outsourcing his job to China, paying workers there 20% of his salary while he watched cat videos all day at work, according to his firm’s telecommunications provider Verizon. Really.

Bob was routinely praised as the best developer at his U.S.-based critical infrastructure company, and seen as an expert in C, C++, Perl and other programming language, the UK’s The Register reported.

But Bob was diverting $50,000 yearly from his paycheck to a Chinese consulting agency that did all his software coding. With his work-day schedule free, Bob spent his office time online.

According to the Verizon report that released the details of Bob's activities, a typical “work day” for Bob looked like this:

9 a.m.: Arrive and surf Reddit for a couple of hours. Watch cat videos.
11:30 a.m.:  Take lunch
1 p.m.: Ebay time.
2 p.m.-ish: Facebook and LinkedIn time.
4:30 p.m.: End of day update e-mail to management.
5 p.m.: Go home.

Bob was discovered after his company suspected malware when it was reveleaed that an unknown user in China was logging in with Bob's private credentials.

When investigators checked Bob's computer, instead of malware, they found hundreds of invoices documenting his transactions with a consulting agency in Shenyang, China.

Bob, unsurprisingly, is no longer employed by the firm.
