Victor Cruz takes his tweet apology to the airwaves
Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz took to the airwaves Monday in an attempt to clean up the public relations disaster he incited after tweeting his displeasure regarding the verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial.
“I took it back because I understand how things can be taken,” Cruz said on ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike” show. “There are a lot of children that follow me, a lot of kids that follow me, and I don’t want them to think I’m trying to incite violence on anyone. That’s not what I’m here for. That’s not what my intent was — or is — at all.”
Immediately following the verdict, Cruz tweeted, “Zimmerman doesn’t last a year before the hood catches up with him.”
He quickly deleted the tweet and apologized, also on Twitter.
