Vogue editor dishes on Fashion's Night Out
The biggest night in shopping — Fashion’s Night Out — is set to take over all five boroughs Sept. 10, with more than 1,000 stores throwing parties and events. We got the lowdown from Virginia Smith, fashion market/accessories director for Vogue, which heads up the evening.
What’s the message of FNO?
FNO celebrates fashion and those who work hard to create the items we love. The evening is about coming together for a larger cause — restoring consumer confidence and getting shoppers back in the stores.
Whom does FNO impact?
Fashion plays a huge role in the global economy, from designers, manufacturers and seamstresses to sales representatives, stockroom associates and store merchandisers. The industry impacts everyone on multiple levels. Fashion’s Night Out supports that in a way that makes fashion fun and accessible.
Why should shoppers come out?
Fashion’s Night Out is special because the public has access to one-of-a-kind events, appearances and performances that will only happen on this one night. Whether someone is a lover of the arts, a foodie, a music enthusiast or a sports fan, they’ll find a store in which to celebrate. (amny)
