The world bid adieu to its ugliest dog Saturday.

Yoda, a Chinese crested, Chihuahua mix, died in her sleep at age 15, according to the AP.

She took the title of World's Ugliest Dog last year, when her seemingly paralyzed tongue, matted tufts of hair and Yoda-like ears won the judges over during the competition hosted at the Sonom-Marin Fair.

Weighing in at just 1.8 pounds, the pup was found by owner Terry Schumacher of Hanford, Calif. abandoned behind Schumacher's apartment building. She initially mistook the dog for a rat.

After winning her title, Yoda lived a life of fame and fortune that included photo shoots, a trophy and a $1,000 grand prize.

Contest producer Vicki DeArmon said the pup will be able to keep her title until another is deemed the ugliest in June.

"Her memories will live on forever," Schumacher told the AP.
