Olson's OT goal gives Mepham girls win
Cristina Olson scored two of her three goals in the first overtime, including the winner with 40 seconds left off a feed from Emilu Schmitt to lift Mepham to an 8-7 win over Wheatley on Friday in non-league girls lacrosse.
Sophomore JoAnn DeLauter made eight of her career-high 23 saves in the two overtimes. Nicole Stackpole scored with 10 minutes left in regulation to tie the score at 6 for Mepham.
BOYS LACROSSE
Friends Academy 11, Oceanside 10: Quentin Dellafers scored with 1:18 left in overtime to lift Friends Academy in non-league. His brother Harry scored with 38 seconds left in the fourth to tie the score at 10.
SOFTBALL
Mepham 1, Bethpage 0: Victoria Gunnels struck out eight and walked none in a two-hitter and Marie Valeriano hit a sacrifice fly in the third for Mepham in non-league.
Babylon 11, Glenn 6: Tiana Giuliano struck out 11 and allowed one earned run in a three-hitter for Babylon in non-league.
BASEBALL
Mattituck 8, Southold 0: Steve Ascher struck out 13 in six shutout innings and Yianni Rauseo had a grand slam, a double and five RBIs for Mattituck in non-league.
BOYS TENNIS
Commack 4, East Islip 3:Jake Horowitz and Matt Kim beat Evan Kaplan and Garret Bernichon, 6-1, 6-4, in the clinching second doubles match to lift Commack in League I.
