Beaches open on Long Island past Labor Day

After Labor Day, aka the unofficial end of summer, some area beaches are still open so visitors can enjoy lower parking fees, sun and surf. These beaches still have lifeguards on duty after Monday; lifeguards are also on duty through the holiday weekend. 

JONES BEACH STATE PARK

Wantagh; Open sunrise to sunset daily. Realtime parking updates will be posted at parks.ny.gov; 516-785-1600.

Lifeguards: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Sept. 18; call for which fields have swimming each day.

Fee: $10 daily until Sept. 18; $8 weekends after Sept. 18 until mid-November 

ROBERT MOSES STATE PARK

Babylon; Open sunrise to sunset; parks.ny.gov; 631-669-0449.

Lifeguards: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Sept. 18; call for which fields have swimming each day.

Fee: $10 for parking until Sept. 18; $8 weekends after Sept. 18 until mid-November

POINT LOOKOUT BEACH

Lifeguards: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends through Sept. 25.

Fee: Free after Labor Day  

LIDO BEACH

LIDO BEACH WEST

HITHER HILLS STATE PARK

GOV. ALFRED E. SMITH/SUNKEN MEADOW STATE PARK

MAIN BEACH EAST HAMPTON

ATLANTIC AVENUE BEACH
