A 60-year-old woman in Olean is accused of killing her estranged husband's dog by feeding it the anti-anxiety drug Xanax.

The 9-year-old pit bull's death is recorded in a Facebook video that shows the owner trying to comfort her as she thrashes and howls in agony. Its owner, 46-year-old John McQuiller, tells The Buffalo News that his wife, Gertrude McQuiller, poisoned Kita to get revenge after they separated. Kita died on Christmas Day.

McQuiller's brother, Ambe Reeder, posted the video online.

When she was arrested on New Year's Eve, Gertrude McQuiller told Olean Police that she "felt abandoned." She's to appear in Olean City Court on Jan. 13 on misdemeanor charges of torturing and killing the dog.

It could not be determined if McQuiller has a lawyer.
