State police say a Canadian couple has died after their motorcycle slammed into the back of a vehicle on a northern New York road.

Troopers say 60-year-old Jacques Patenaude of Ontario was driving his Harley-Davidson north on state Route 37 around 10:30 a.m. Thursday when he crashed into the back of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had stopped to make a left turn at an intersection in the town of Malone, near the Canadian border in Franklin County.

Police say Patenaude and his 55-year-old wife, Linda, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.

The 53-year-old Malone man who was driving the Jeep was taken a hospital for evaluation.
