Rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq suffered a setback in his recovery from sports hernia surgery and will be out indefinitely.

Sadiq underwent surgery in the spring and didn’t participate in the Jets offseason program. He was held out of practice on Monday, but Aaron Glenn said that was part of the maintenance plan. Glenn said something showed up in an exam Sadiq had and he’s been shut down.

“He had a little setback,” Glenn said. “He’ll be out for a bit. I can’t tell you exactly how long right now but I will let you know at some point. Just expecting him to be out a little bit. He’s working his way back.”

Glenn said he’s “very confident” Sadiq will be ready for Week 1.

The Jets drafted Sadiq, a talented and versatile player, with the No. 16 pick out of Oregon. He’s expected to be a big part of the Jets’ offense when he’s able to rejoin it.

“When he had the surgery, most guys they usually get both of them done,” Glenn said. . “That’s something the doctors do. I’m not real worried about it. The thing is I want to make sure I make the right decision. I want to make sure I take care of him to be ready for the regular season.”
