Roundup: Busiello's three is key for P/B

Amanda Busiello's three-pointer with 1:30 left broke a tie at 30 to help No. 2 Pierson/Bridgehampton defeat Mercy, 35-32, in a Class C girls basketball semifinal Saturday.

Kaci Koehne grabbed an offensive rebound off a missed free throw with 6.5 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Whalers (9-10). Samantha James had 13 points and Koehne had 17 rebounds. Dani Gehring scored 10 points for No. 3 Mercy.

Pierson/Bridgehampton plays No. 1 Stony Brook in the final at 5 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's College.

Stony Brook 40, Southold 21: Brannon Burke had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead top-seeded Stony Brook (13-5) in a Class C semifinal. Ariana Odom added 10 points and nine rebounds and Keara Vancol had 23 rebounds for Stony Brook. Sarah Smith scored 10 points for No. 4 Southold.

Comsewogue 44, Huntington 37: Cindy Edwards scored 12 points to lead No. 14 Comsewogue (13-6) in a Class AA outbracket game. Michelle Rubino added nine points and five steals, Kerry MacKinnon had six points and four steals, and Samantha Kane had six points and eight rebounds for Comsewogue. Jackie Waldron scored 16 points and Emma Hayes-Hurley had 10 points for No. 19 Huntington. Comsewogue will face No. 3 Sachem East in the first round at noon Monday.

Sachem North 52, Eastport-South Manor 43: Danielle Levine had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead No. 15 Sachem North (10-8) in a Class AA outbracket game. Erin McNulty added 14 points and nine rebounds and Colleen McNeece had 14 points for Sachem North. Dene DiMartino scored 20 points and Riley Brisson added nine points for No. 18 Eastport-South Manor. Sachem North will visit No. 2 North Babylon Monday in the first round.

LI Lutheran 60, St. Anthony (N.J.) 33: Christina Raiti scored 13 points to lead Long Island Lutheran (17-4). Kirstyn Churick added 10 points and six rebounds, and Carolyn Dottino had eight points and five assists for Lutheran.
