Roundup: MacArthur's Chiaramonte spins no-hitter
Junior Joe Chiaramonte pitched his first career no-hitter with 13 strikeouts, a hit batsmen and no walks for MacArthur (1-0) Monday in Conference AA-II baseball. The first batter of the game reached on an error. Mike Koslowski, Brett Ellers and Bobby Kollmer each had two hits.
Oceanside 2, Farmingdale 0: Chris Flynn drove in Joe Barile on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to break a scoreless tie and lead Oceanside (1-0) in Conference AA-I. Eric Mandel added an RBI single to drive in Bob Colucci.
Bellmore JFK 6, Valley Stream Central 1: David Leiderman and Andrew Wood each had an RBI to lead Bellmore JFK (1-0) in Conference AA-III.
Calhoun 1, Long Beach 0: Frank Trimarco pitched a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking one, for Calhoun (1-0). Dan Sullivan singled in Alex Vargas in the top of the fifth. Mickey Silberfeld threw a two-hitter for Long Beach (0-1).
Oyster Bay 5, Wheatley 3: Joe Siringo pitched five innings, allowed three hits, one earned run and struck out four, to lead Oyster Bay (4-0) in Conference BC-II. Siringo was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.
Locust Valley 7, East Rockaway 6: Mark Vessalico's bases-loaded walk in the 10th scored Cody West to lead Locust Valley (3-1) in Conference BC. Locust Valley scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, capped by John McConie's one-out fielder's choice, to tie the game. Nick West struck out nine in six innings of scoreless relief.
Elmont 8, Sewanhaka 3: Ricardo Tross struck out 16 over six innings, allowing two earned runs for Elmont (3-1) in countywide play. Tommy Caraballo went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Westbury 7, Roosevelt 0: Junior Ralph Davis threw his first career no-hitter, striking out 16 and walking two to lead Westbury (2-5). Davis had a perfect game through six innings before walking the leadoff batter in the seventh.
Uniondale 6, Great Neck South 5: Tommy Hobson's eighth-inning sacrifice fly scored Victor Santos, who had reached on a triple, to win the game. Uniondale (7-0) trailed 5-2 in the seventh but tied the game on Nadyn Evans' single.
Connetquot 9, Northport 1: Jim Guiliano went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Dan Treadwell threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts for Connetquot (3-2) in League II.
Eastport-South Manor 8, Islip 1: Freshman Mat Annunziata went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for Eastport-South Manor (1-0) in League V. Ryan McCormick went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run, Joe Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two doubles and Brendon O'Sullivan allowed six hits, no walks and struck out eight in a complete game.
Deer Park 12, Kings Park 2: Deer Park (3-1) sent 11 batters to the plate in a seven-run third-inning. Tommy Kastenlan was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases. Joe Muenkle pitched a three-hitter, surrendering three walks and striking out seven.
Harborfields 4, Huntington 1: Jesse Vahamonde pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead Harborfields (2-2). Brian Lane went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Holy Trinity 6, St. John the Baptist 4: Alex Robinson threw a three-hitter, striking out 11 and allowing two earned runs for Holy Trinity (3-2) in CHSAA. Jack Parenty went 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs and Ricky Van Allen's solo homer in the third inning made it 5-0.
