Six sixth graders at Dutch Broadway School in Elmont have assumed roles in the school’s peer mediation program.

The students were chosen by their fifth-grade teachers for their ability to serve as good leaders and positive role models to their fellow students, according to Assistant Principal Eileen Lambert.

The students will help their peers to resolve disagreements by meeting with them and brainstorming solutions to the problem. Additionally, the students participate in all school-wide events.

During the month of October, the six students will be preparing “Red Ribbon Week Activities” that support “Saying No to Drugs,” according to a press release.
