Taylor gets second straight perfect game
Lindsay Taylor tossed her second straight perfect game with 18 strikeouts to lift Kings Park to a 5-0 win over Huntington Wednesday in Suffolk League V softball.
It was the 11th career perfect game/no-hitter for Taylor, who had three hits and two RBIs in the win. Ariana Ambrosio added a hit and an RBI for Kings Park.
Taylor threw a perfect game in a 12-0 win over Harborfields on Monday.
Sayville 3, Westhampton 0: Kathleen Maehr struck out 10 in a no-hitter and had a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth to give Sayville a 1-0 lead in League VI.
Bay Shore 2, Northport 1: Taylor McGowan's single scored Giana Panariello in the top of the third to give Bay Shore a 2-0 lead in League II. McGowan, a senior, threw a four-hitter, allowing one unearned run in the bottom of the seventh, with a career-high 16 strikeouts and one walk.
South Side 14, Roosevelt 0: Samantha Maselli struck out 12 and walked two in a five-inning no-hitter to lead South Side in Nassau Conference IV. Antonia Modica went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs in the win.
Bellmore JFK 3, Hicksville 2: Gabbi Calia scored Brittany Venezia with a single in bottom of the sixth to give Bellmore a 3-2 lead in Conference II. Stephanie Bauman's two-run double in the fifth tied the score at 2 for Bellmore.
East Rockaway 6, Locust Valley 5: Kerrianne Vulpis doubled in Amanda Littlefair for the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth for East Rockaway in Conference BC. Locust Valley had a chance to win it in the bottom of the seventh, but East Rockaway leftfielder Stephanie Loudhran threw out the potential winning run at the plate to force extra innings.
St. Dominic 5, St. John the Baptist 0: Amanda Finn struck out three and scattered six hits for St. Dominic in CHSAA. Tonniann Pasquerella had a two-run double.
