Track beat: Top teams headed for Millrose
Many of Long Island's best track programs will be present at the 104th Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 29.
Among the many competitors will be the St. Anthony's boys 4 x 800 squad of Thomas Diliberto, Tim Fiola, Kevin Kreider and Payton Hazzard, which took first at the qualifier in a school-record time of 7:59.83 on Thursday night at The Armory.
Longwood's Imani White will compete in the weight throw after setting a record with 47 feet, 4 1/2 inches at the trials.
The Garden City girls 4 x 400 team of Jenna DeAngelo, Taylor Hennig, Taryn Schmelzinger and Emma Gallagher ran 3:56.98 at the trials and figure to be a favorite at the Games.
North Shore's Samantha Nadel, who ran a personal best of 4:50.93 in the mile at the trials and followed that up with a record-breaking time in the 3,000 at the Stanner Games Saturday, will compete in the girls invitational mile.
The Hills West boys 4 x 400 team, which ran to a first-place finish in the trials in 3:24.0, will also be competing at the Games.
