Above normal temperatures continue, with Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, expected to warm up to the low 50s, forecasters say. Credit: News 12 Long Island

Gusty conditions were expected to dominate the overnight hours, forecasters said, and into Friday.

As of around 5 p.m., 21 mph winds from the west were recorded at Long Island MacArthur Airport, gusting to 31 mph.

The airport saw a high of 51 degrees, making Thursday the ninth day this month to see 50 or above, with January, as of day-end Tuesday, registering 5.5 degrees above normal.

Overnight temperatures are expected to head down to around 34 degrees, the National Weather Service said.

Friday is expected to be partly sunny, with highs around the mid-40s and continuing gusty conditions.
