The forecast for Long Island called for mostly cloudy skies Thursday afternoon, and for scattered showers and fog Thursday night and into early Friday.

The temperature was 53 degrees just before 2 p.m. at Long Island MacArthur Airport.

Such temperatures are “quite mild for this time of year,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Matt Hammer said.

“Highs today will range a little depending on where you are across Long Island, but no matter where you are, it will definitely be mild,” Hammer said Thursday.

“We’re expecting low 50s for the South Shore, mid-50s inland, and the best chance to get around 60 in northwestern Nassau,” he said.

There will be drizzle in some areas Friday with scattered showers between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., the weather service said. The high was expected to be near 56.

Saturday should bring more rain early in the day, with drizzle later in day.

Sunday should be mostly sunny with a high near 47.
