Under dry skies, temperatures on Long Island reached the mid- to upper 60s on Tuesday, as voters headed to the polls.

On Wednesday, a day that could very well dawn on a new president-elect, light showers are likely to overspread the area from midmorning through the afternoon, the National Weather Service says. A 60 percent chance of showers during the day was in the forecast as of late Tuesday afternoon.

In all, less than a quarter of an inch of precipitation is expected, said Carlie Buccola, weather service meteorologist in Upton.

High temperatures are expected to hit a more seasonable mid- to upper 50s, the weather service said.
