Thursday brings more sun, temps in the 80s to Long Island

Another comfortably sunny day is in store for Long Island, the National Weather Service said Thursday.

Daily high temperatures in the low to mid 80s are expected across Nassau and Suffolk counties, with west winds from 10 to 15 mph, the service's Upton office said.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said Thursday will be "mostly sunny and nice," with winds shifting to the southwest later in the day.

Hoffman said conditions will remain warm and comfortable with drier air and lower humidity levels through late Saturday.

Thursday night turns cool, with temperatures dipping into the mid 60s; then it's another dose of 80 degrees or higher on Friday, with plenty of sunshine and winds shifting south at 5 to 10 mph.

There's a slight chance of showers Friday night and then again Saturday, late in the day. Again, on Saturday and Sunday, highs in the low 80s are expected.

The humidity returns starting late Saturday, and there's another threat of showers Sunday night into Monday morning, he said.

"More humid weather is coming in late Saturday into next week," Hoffman said. From Tuesday to Thursday there will be temperatures in the "high 80s to even some low 90s in mostly Nassau County."
