* CURRENT SITUATION: Suffolk police are urging residents to stay off the roads as conditions remain hazardous across the island. * SCHOOL CLOSINGS: At least 29 districts have announced school closings for Monday as of 10:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a Newsday/News12 database. * TRAFFIC: The Long Island Expressway has reopened from exits 57-73, and Sunrise Highway has reopend.  Latest traffic and transit info

* OUTAGES: As of 5:48 a.m. Monday, 135 LIPA customers remained without power. Those without power should call 800-490-0075, report outages online at liaccount.com/outage or text OUT to 695472. Gas leaks should be reported to National Grid by calling 800-490-0045.

*ABANDONED VEHICLES: Suffolk County police released a phone number (631-904-3050) for motorists who had to abandon their vehicles on the LIE during the snowstorm. Motorists who had to leave their vehicles on local streets or Sunrise Highway should call the precint neares their vehicle.

* LIRR: The Long Island Rail Road said it will operating near normal service on nine of 11 branches Monday morning. The LIRR advises customers to visit www.mta.info/lirr and refer to the LIRR's "Modified Schedule 4" for train times.

* AIRPORTS: Air travel crept to back to life Sunday at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, where US Airways was scheduled to resume service at noon, and Southwest Airlines, the airports busiest carrier, was supposed to begin flying at 4:50 p.m. A total of 14 flights were cancelled today at LIMA, according to FlightAware.com, an online flight tracker. Flights at Kennedy Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty in New Jersey and Stewart International in West Chester resumed Saturday, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In all, there were 18 cancelled flights at Kennedy; seven at LaGuardia; 13 at Newark and 14 at Long Island MacArthur today. Track individual flights here | Mobile link: newsday.com/flighttracker.

* STAYING WARM: If the power goes out, it’s important to know how to stay warm. Gather together. A crowded room becomes warmer than one with just a few people inside. Close doors to all but essential rooms. Open curtains and shades to let the sun's warmth in, then close them at dusk. Wear extra, loose layers of clothing and a head cover, and use layers of blankets on beds. Do not use electrical generators inside, prop open the oven door or keep oven burners on.

* CLEAR HYDRANTS FOR FIREFIGHTERS: Water utility New York American Water asks homeowners and local businesses to take a few minutes to make sure they keep areas surrounding fire hydrants clear so firefighters can connect their equipment without delays.

*KEEP PETS SAFE: Be alert to frostbite: Skin can turn red, gray, white or scaly. If you believe your pet has frostbite, contact your veterinarian immediately. Always keep ID tags on your pets in the event they should get lost during the storm. Be sure to walk your dog on a leash and minimize exposure time, also taking care to keep all of your pets clean and wiped down after going outside (road salt can irritate or burn pets and can sometimes cause more serious conditions like seizures). If in doubt, be sure to keep your pets indoors throughout the duration of the storm.
