The first Haitian-born bishop to be consecrated in the United States will give the sermon at a Mass of Remembrance. It’s being held on the one-month anniversary of the earthquake.
The Most Reverend Guy Sansaricq is auxiliary bishop of Brooklyn.
He’ll give the sermon Friday night at a Mass celebrated by Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio. It’s being held at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
New York City’s Haitian community is thought to be close to 400,000. The largest concentration is in Brooklyn and Queens.
