Life's Victories

Dear Readers,

There is no denying that we’re living through unprecedented times. From our daily interactions and the way we do our jobs, to the fear of not knowing what’s next, life on Long Island has truly changed. Yet through it all, there’s something that has remained constant; the strength and perseverance of Long Islanders, especially those who have battled breast cancer.

October is breast cancer awareness month. Even with advances in research, preventive care and treatment, far too many of our friends and loved ones have been touched by this disease. That’s why this October, as we do every year, through our Life’s Victories program we will share stories of hope, strength and courage from extraordinary survivors. We invite you to read the personal profiles of Long Islanders who are winning the fight against breast cancer. Their profiles are available all month long in Newsday and online here.

These stories serve as reminders of the fighting spirit within us and how early detection and increased awareness can save lives.

Sincerely,
Debby Krenek
