David Wright is batting .411. It’s mid-May.

According to STATS, LLC, the last regular player to hit .411 or higher through games of May 17 or later was Chipper Jones in 2008, who made it to June 12 with a batting average of .414.

Jones finished the season at .364. The last major-leaguer to hit more than .400 was Ted Williams in 1941 at .406. The last National Leaguer to do it was Bill Terry, who hit .401 in 1930.

So does Wright think he’ll hit .400?

“I’m pretty positive [I won’t],” he said.
