ARLINGTON, Texas — The Los Angeles Angels placed first baseman Nolan Schanuel on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a right intercostal muscle strain and outfielder Wade Meckler on the seven-day concussion list, both retroactive to Friday.
Both left Thursday night’s game at Houston.
“I think it was something that he’s kind of been dealing with a little bit, and it just got to a point where it wasn’t feeling great," manager Kurt Suzuki said of Schanuel. "So, just kind of said something like ‘Let’s try not to make it get really bad.’ So, they’re trying to be precautionary.”
Meckler was hit near the right ear by a 90.6 mph sinker from Astros left-hander Bryan King. He was motionless on the ground for a few seconds, but was able to get to his feet with the help of trainers before walking off the field.
In corresponding moves, the Angels recalled infielder-outfielder Christian Moore and outfielder-catcher Gustavo Campero from Triple-A Salt Lake. Both were in the starting lineup for Saturday night’s game at Texas.
