Andruw Jones says hand OK after diving attempt to make catch

Andruw Jones rolled his left wrist and bent back a few fingers on a diving attempt to make a catch in the Yankees’ 8-5 loss to the Blue Jays Wednesday.

However, Jones doesn’t believe the injury is serious and made it clear he doesn’t think he’ll miss any time at all, which is good news for the injury-ravaged Yankees.

“My fingers went back a little, but it will be all right,” Jones said. “It didn’t hurt swinging the bat in the last at-bat. So, it will be all right for the next series.”

Jones said he first got banged up in the sixth inning when he tried to catch Adam Lind’s liner, a ball he said he had initially but it rolled out of his glove when he hit the ground. He aggravated things in the ninth when he couldn’t corral Yunel Escobar’s double.

“I had it and I just kind of rolled over my wrist a little bit and it wasn’t that bad,” he said. “But that second one, my fingers really got caught up and into the glove and kind of rolled over a little bit."
