As a Yankee, the Ichiro of old returns

The trade of Ichiro Suzuki from the Mariners to the Yankees on July 23 made a big splash because of his name and its surprise more so than because of his stats.

Surely, a .261 hitter wouldn't normally warrant the coverage it received if not for the star power of the 10-time Gold Glove winner with more than 2,500 career hits.

But in the 26 games since joining the Yankees, Ichiro has been hitting .322 (28-for-87). That's for more in line with his career numbers -- .322 career batting average -- than his work in 2011 (.272) and in 2012 before coming to New York.

Ichiro's two home runs Sunday night against Boston gave him three with the Yankees so far -- and seven for the season.

Maybe he's not quite as "done" as many thought a month ago.
