David Einhorn, Terry Collins, the Yankees and turnaround teams

Hope that everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend. I was hoping to spend a day off at a ballpark, only in the stands with some family members rather than in the press box. Alas, rain struck. Maybe we'll try again tonight.

--The Mets lost again, in front of impending minority owner David Einhorn, who - as Anthony Rieber reports - didn't appear to love his time in the spotlight. Here's a profile of Einhorn.

As for the specifics of Einhorn's arrangement with the Mets...I honestly don't know. There are dramatically different details out there. I'd rather sincerely claim ignorance than stake claim on something without confidence.

--Good column by Rieber on Terry Collins, who can't afford to be patient for a Mets turnaround. The Mets once again feel like they're on the verge of irrelevance. They have climbed back from that once this season. Can they do so again?

--R.A. Dickey still hopes to pitch on his regular turn in the Mets' starting rotation, on Tuesday, despite suffering a partial tear of the plantar fascia on his right foot.

--The Yankees lost, again, and as Joe Girardi noted, quite frustrating for them in that they took leads against Michel Pineda and Felix Hernandez and failed to hold both.

--Phil Hughes is progressing, slowly.

--Here's my annual Memorial Day weekend turnaround team poll, in which I ask industry officials about teams that have gone from 2010 losers to 2011 winners and vice versa. If you scroll down on this blog post, you can see that last year's group of respondents did a pretty good job of forecasting. Some of those respondents helped me out once more this year.

--I swear, if you were a conspiracy theorist, you could think that crazy stuff happens with the Dodgers just in order to make the Mets look better. Tonight, it was a fire at Dodgers Stadium. Thanks to Twitter, which possesses all of the integrity that Frank McCourt lacks, for hooking me up with the story.
