Mets prospect suspended for PED use

Mets infield prospect Daniel Muno was suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball for using a performance-enhancing drug, MLB announced. Muno tested positive for a metabolite of Drostanolone, an anabolic steroid.

Muno was hitting .283 with five home runs in 38 games for the St. Lucie Mets, the team's Class A advanced affiliate. He has mostly played second base this season, but played the majority of his games at shortstop last year.

The Fresno State product was selected by the Mets in the eighth round (252nd overall) of the 2011 Amateur Draft. He hit .355 for the Brooklyn Cyclones last year and was named a New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star and MiLB.com Organization All-Star.

He was ranked the 17th best prospect in the Mets organization by MLB.com.
