Ruben Tejada could be back this weekend

PITTSBURGH -- The Mets could have shortstop Ruben Tejada back by this weekend and are hopeful Josh Thole and Jason Bay could soon follow.
Manager Terry Collins said Monday night that Tejada, out since May 7 with a right quad strain, could play in a minor-league rehab game by midweek and rejoin the Mets during this weekend's series against the Padres.
Thole (concussion) and Bay (fractured rib) both headed to Port St. Lucie, Fla., Monday to begin baseball activities.
Collins said Thole has been headache-free and could make his first appearance behind the plate in a rehab game on Memorial Day.
Bay, who took light batting practice at PNC Park Monday before heading to Florida, will begin as a designated hitter in his rehab assignment, Collins said.
