Sunday reading: The Yankees' outfield, Miguel Tejada and the Rangers' owners

For my Sunday Insider, I wrote about the Yankees' evolving outfield situation. While we know never to say never on anything, I'd be surprised if a) Johnny Damon accepted the Yankees' $2 million offer, or b) the Yankees raised that offer.

I just don't think the Yankees are that concerned about bringing back Damon. If they can get him back at their price, great. If not, no big whoop.

The Insider also features notes about a likely change in the Elias rankings in time for next year's free-agent market, a Hank Steinbrenner update and a tip of the hat to Long Island native Tom O'Connell, who made the right call when he accepted the Twins' arbitration offer on behalf of Carl "American Idle" Pavano.

--The Orioles are bringing back Miguel Tejada on a one-year deal, and while I'll wait until all of the Type A free agents sign before rendering final offseason grades, Baltimore really has put together a nice winter. Tejada, Kevin Millwood, Mike Gonzalez and Garrett Atkins are all potentially positive acquisitions, and only Gonzalez presents significant risk.

--The Rangers sale, from Tom Hicks to Chuck Greenberg, continues to move forward, and this is good news for Texas fans. The front office of president Nolan Ryan and general manager Jon Daniels deserve to stay in place. Daniels, in particular, has changed the entire culture of the organization by making the Rangers' farm system one of the best in the industry.
