KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Tickets are expensive; memories are priceless.

So, how best to match those two realities into a workable strategy for 2016?

To help, SeatGeek, which monitors secondary ticket markets, sent an infographic designed to assess the most cost-effective locations at Citi Field and Yankee Stadium to secure a home run ball.

The idea was to use data from ESPN’s Hit Tracker and overlay it with SeatGeek’s data on average resale ticket costs for last season to figure out the best bets.

At Yankee Stadium, as you might expect, the strategy is simple: Sit in the sections closest to the rightfield wall. Of the 189 catchable home run balls hit by the Yankees and their opponents in 2015, nearly half — 86 — landed in sections 103, 104 or 105.

The best of all was 105, where 42 home runs landed. That section had an average resale ticket price of $80, producing a “cost index” of $1.90, according to SeatGeek’s interpretation.

At Citi Field there were only 84 home runs balls accessible to fans, of which nine landed in section 103 down the rightfield line, where the tickets prices averaged $38. Cost index: $4.22.

The three next-best sections all were in leftfield: 134, 136 and 137. And that was without a full season of Yoenis Cespedes.
