According to Erik Boland on Twitter:

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Robinson Cano is still likely to start in the All-Star game; just the Home Run Derby they don't want him to participate in.

Then ....

The lineup comes out and Cano isn't in it. Ramiro Pena is starting at second base.

And ....

Confusion in the clubhouse: Cano said no one from organization has told him he's NOT participating in Derby.

We'll see where this all goes. There was a report earlier that Cano wouldn't be in next week's Home Run Derby in Anaheim.

UPDATE, 6:49 p.m.:  Cano, asked what he'd say if Yankees asked him not to participate: "I have to wait for them and see what they say."
