The Yankees' games against the Mariners at Safeco Field July 10 and 11 will be televised in 3-D, a first for baseball, by YES and FSN Northwest for DirecTV subscribers with 3-D sets.
Ray Hopkins, YES' chief operating officer, said the production would emphasize the type of low-angle shots that enhance 3-D, much as MSG did when it televised the first NHL game in 3-D in March.
"From our perspective we're approaching this as an experiment and a great learning experience," Hopkins said.
Two days after the Yankees-Mariners series, Fox will produce the All-Star Game in 3-D.
