Yankees trade Ivan Nova to Pirates for 2 players to be named later

The Yankees have traded Ivan Nova to the Pittsburgh Pirates for two players to be named later, the team announced shortly after Monday’s 4 p.m. non-waiver trade deadline.
The move comes amid the Yankees’ fire sale that included dealing Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller and Carlos Beltran for multiple prospects.
“This was a moment I knew was someday going to come,” Nova told reporters after hearing about the trade.
Nova was 7-6 with a 4.90 ERA, 1.356 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 21 appearances, including 15 starts, in 2016.
The Yankees signed Nova, 29, as an amateur free agent in 2004, and he made his big-league debut in 2010.
Nova will become a free agent at the end of the 2016 season.
