The Hitman and Sugar Ray chime in

LAS VEGAS - The last time two African-Americans hooked up in a welterweight bout of this magnitude was a little over 19 years ago when Tommy "Hitman" Hearns and "Sugar" Ray Leonard hooked up for the second time.

Both fighters were in town for the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley bout. And both fighters chimed in on the fight, where it stands in history and how it compares to their epic battles. 

"Most of the time fights don't live up to expectations," said Leonard. "I truly believe that this fight here, with these two guys, will indeed live up to expectations."

Leonard went on to say that he sees a big moment in the fight. 

"I have yet to see Mayweather hurt, knocked down or whatever. On the other hand I see "Sugar" Shane Mosley as a guy who could penetrate his impeccable defense," Leonard continued. "I had a premonition the other night and I saw a knockout by someone. I'm not a guru, I'm not a psychic, but I did see a knockout."

Hearns agreed with his former opponent. 

"This is going to be a very good fight. I think it is going to be a very competitive fight," he said. "It is going to be a chess match."

Now for the good part. Neither old pro was ready to say this fight matched what they did in 1989. 

"I don't see Mayweather-Mosley matching our fight," Leonard said. "It's a fight that's been talked about for decades. I think it will be a great one, though."

Hearns agreed with Leonard once again. 

"I don't see it being the same as me and Ray," he said. "We set the standard and it's going to be tough to top what we did. I think it's going to be a great fight Saturday, but  don't look for the same thing that happened in out fight. It was a different era."
