Charles Jenkins named to Naismith list; Hofstra gets North Carolina on Thursday

Hofstra senior guard Charles Jenkins was one of 50 players named to the preseason Naismith Award watch list, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Tuesday.
Jenkins, who was one of five players from mid-major conferences to earn a spot on the watch list, averaged 20.6 points per game for the Pride last season.
Jenkins will get a chance to put his skills on display on Thursday as Hofstra (1-0) takes on No.9 North Carolina in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Jenkins had 26 points, eight reounds and eight assists in Hofstra's season-opening win over Farmingdale State on Saturday.
