Good news and bad news for Bubble teams
First the good news:
Siena won the MAAC Tournament and Old Dominion beat William & Mary in the CAA final. Old Dominion was giong to get in whether or not it had won the CAA, while Siena was on the Bubble. With both teams winning, no at-large bids were lost. You can add Northern Iowa that list. The Panthers were considered a lock for an at-large bid if they lost in the Missouri Valley title game. But they didn't lose and are now dancing with the conference's automatic bid.
Now for the bad:
St. Mary's beat Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference final. No.18 Gonzaga was a lock for tournament, while St. Mary's was a Bubble team. We'll never know if the Gaels would've gotten an at-large bid. But the one thing we do know is that the WCC is getting two teams. There goes one at-large bid.
Games on Tuesday that will effect Bubble teams:
Butler vs. Wright State, Horizon League championship game: If Butler loses, you can kiss another at-large bid good-bye. The Bulldogs are a lock for the NCAA Tournament.
Providence vs. Seton Hall, Big East Tournament: Seton Hall (18-11, 9-9 Big East) finished its regular season on a strong note. But the Pirates are still a Bubble team. A win here could seal a bid for them.
St. Joseph's vs. Rhode Island, Atlantic 10 Tournament: Rhode Island (21-8, 9-7 A-10) has a solid record, but the Rams have lost five of their last seven games. URI is going to need a run to the A-10 final to have a shot at securing a bid.
