Iona, LIU on verge of NCAA bids

Jermel Jenkins scored 20 points, including six three-pointers, and Iona routed Rider, 83-59, Sunday in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal in Bridgeport.

Iona (22-10) rolls into Monday night's conference title game against Saint Peter's on a nine-game winning streak.

Dwight Rashon added 19 points and Mike Glover 12 for the Gaels, who have held three of their past five opponents to fewer than 60 points.

LIU 69, Central Connecticut 67: Jamal Olasewere had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Jason Brickman hit two free throws with 17 seconds left as host and top seed LIU (26-5) advanced to the Northeast Conference title game against Robert Morris on Wednesday.

Indiana St. 60, Missouri St. 56: Aaron Carter scored 15 points and Indiana State (20-13) held top seed Missouri State to 30.5-percent shooting in the MVC final in St. Louis.

Ohio St. 93, Wisconsin 65: Jon Diebler hit 7-for-8 on threes and scored 27 points for the host No. 1 Buckeyes (29-2, 16-2 Big Ten), who shot 14-for-15 on threes. The No. 10 Badgers (23-7, 13-5) had beaten Ohio State on Feb. 12.

Kentucky 64, Tennessee 58: Brandon Knight scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half in Knoxville for No. 20 Kentucky (22-8, 10-6).

All-Big East team

St. John's Dwight Hardy was named to the All-Big East team. Notre Dame's Ben Hansbrough was a unanimous selection, and they were joined by Kemba Walker of Connecticut, Austin Freeman of Georgetown, Ashton Gibbs of Pittsburgh and Marshon Brooks of Providence.- AP
