National roundup: Purdue's Hummel out for the season
Purdue's hopes for a strong NCAA Tournament run took a major blow after the school announced today junior forward Robbie Hummel tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.
Hummel, who is averaging 15.7 points and 6.9 rebounds, injured the knee during Purdue's 59-58 win over Minnesota on Wednesday.
The No.3 Boilermakers (24-3, 12-3 Big Ten), who started the season 14-0, host Michigan State on Sunday.
Safford also hurt. Missouri found itself in the same predicament as Purdue as junior forward Justin Safford tore his ACL in a 92-63 win over Colorado on Wednesday. Safford is averaging 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds for the Tigers (21-7, 9-4 Big 12).
Villanova's Stokes' cited. Villanova junior guard Corey Stokes was cited for public urination Thursday morning. Wildcats coach Jay Wright hasn't decided if Stokes will play against Syracuse on Saturday.
