Rodgers' 34 leadGeorgetown to Sweet 16
Now that Georgetown has gone farther in the NCAA Tournament than ever before, the Hoyas and Sugar Rodgers are poised to take another crack at Connecticut.
Rodgers scored a career-high 34 points, and No. 5 seed Georgetown (24-10 breezed past fourth-seed Maryland, 79-57, Tuesday night to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time.
Georgetown will face top-seed Connecticut in the Philadelphia Regional. The Hoyas went 0-2 against their Big East rivals this season.
Texas A&M 70, Rutgers 48: Danielle Adams had 28 points and 11 rebounds, Sydney Carter added 14 points and Tyra White had 11 for the second-seeded Aggies (29-5) in Bossier City, La.
April Sykes scored 21 for No. 7 seed Rutgers (20-13), which was held to 35.8 percent shooting (19 of 53).
The Aggies move on to Dallas next weekend against Georgia.
Georgia 61, Florida St. 59: Jasmine James scored on a putback with 2.1 seconds left, then made the subsequent free throw to lift Georgia (23-10) in Auburn, Ala.
Baylor 82, West Virginia 68: Brittney Griner had 30 points as top-seeded Baylor (33-2) advanced to the Sweet 16 for the sixth time in eight years. Baylor will play Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Wisconsin-Green Bay 65, Michigan St. 56: Adrian Ritchie scored 20 points, Julie Wojta added 18 and Green Bay (34-1) extended its winning streak to 25 games.
Oklahoma 88, Miami 83: Danielle Robinson scored six straight points after No. 3 seed Miami pulled even for the first time since early in the game, and sixth-seeded Oklahoma (23-11) won in Charlottesville, Va.
Louisville 85, Xavier 75: Freshman point guard Shoni Schimmel had a career-high 33 points, leading a late comeback that swept Louisville (22-12) past No. 2 Xavier (29-3) in Cincinnati. -- AP
